SMS Giveaway Day or How I Lost My Mind

It's time for Sew Mama Sew's Giveaway Day. I missed the last one because I was too busy and didn't want to miss this one. Of course, my grades are due tomorrow and I still have more research papers to mark, Jaxon was melting down left and right today, and the only craft show (at my friend's house) that I do is this weekend...but I still signed up. *sigh* So I took a break and whipped this up.

So here is the giveaway....

One sewing travel case containing a self healing mini cutting mat, a 12" ruler, a washable fabric pencil, a pair of scissors and a sewing pattern!

How this works: One entry per person, one comment equals an entry. All I ask is that you take a few seconds to make me feel good because I am way overloaded! Please leave your contact info or you will be disqualified.

Yes, I will ship internationally. You have until Dec. 6 to enter and I will ship by the 12th (Charlie's birthday!).

Full Disclosure:
1. Yes, the scissors are toddler scissors. They still cut, just not fabric...
2. The ruler is too long for the travel case so I kind of stuck it in the last pocket so it leans out the side....I bought the goodies before I made the case.
3. The topstitching on the outer flap that holds the velcro on is way crooked. Not thrilled about how the pattern had me do that. Dug around looking for something to cover it up and then gave up.
4. Just checked the Sew Mama Sew giveaway day entry to make sure I included everything I am meant to. The post doesn't go up until the Dec. 2. This is Nov. 30. I just pulled this rush job for nothing, could have been grading papers. D'OH!

Now I really need a boost. ;-)

I'm totally here to boost you . .I too am overwhelmed but that quilted advent calendar I wanted to make is lying on the couch (not on the wall yet, tonight!) and I'm taking some time to congratulate myself for getting it done by hopping around giveaway day.

That is a gorgeous and practical piece of work. As for being overloaded, all I've got is that tired and worn aphorism "whatever doesn't kill you...". Thing is, I suspect that aphorisms become aphorisms because they are very often true. I have this hypothesis that all the deep truths and realizations of life can be found in aphorism form, but we hear them so often that we don't realize their truth until we experience it ourselves.

Then again, there are a lot of aphorisms that contradict each other. Call it a situation-specific hypothesis.

The one I always cling to in hard times is "this too shall pass". The sun will come out some day soon and you'll have absolutely nothing in front of you.

Then you'll probably be bored. :P

I always have a stack of papers staring at me from some corner of my house where I've stuck them to try to make myself grade them--and I have to say that SEWING IS A MUCH BETTER IDEA THAN GRADING. Sorry for yelling when I don't know you well, but I feel strongly about this. Really strongly. If you graded before sewing you'd be so hard on them anyway that you'd feel bad and like redo all the grades anyway, so really the sewing is a sort of TIME SAVER. There you have it.

Love the travel case. Love it.

This too shall pass. We all go through hard times--especially in today's busy bustling world! At least you can go to your craft to relax! Feel better soon!

What a fantastic giveaway! I love it - it is such a clever idea! I hope you have got those papers marked - I will have about 90 papers to mark next week so know just how you feel. Our day jobs really do get in the way of the really important stuff like sewing!

The tv cover is so fun! I don't have a tv anymore so I wonder if I could cover something else with something like that!

This is totally awesome! I need a travel sewing case. Be glad you finished it, cuz once it's off the list, it can't go back on. I'm sorry for the meltdowns, they always come when you feel like your about to meltdown too.. At least, that's the case over here......

Excellent giveaway and brave of you to have participated even though life is hectic. In the other hand, sewing does call to me when I am facing deadlines, so maybe it is a good thing for your mental health to still sew away when the all that busyness strikes.

very good idea... I have to move my sewing stuff all the time! And can always use more toddler scissors!

I too am feeling a bit overwhelmed right now. To help, I try to take a step back each day and look at the things I was able to accomplish (or start, or finish) rather than the things I didn't get to. I even bought a journal in which I write the date and keep track of things I did over the course of the day. When it feels as though you didn't get anything done, you can look at that list and see you actually did quite a bit!

Very practical and great looking prize! One wise - and busy, but always seemingly organized woman once said to me: only wear one hat at a time - or if things seem overwhelming, you just have to start in one corner, and congratulate yourself for everything you get done, and start again tomorrow! :-)

Lovely, lovely, lovely. Oh, did I already mention how lovely your giveaway prize is? Thanks for your generosity and this great chance. Does that make you feel good? Sure it does -- big karma points for sure! :)

Greetings from Munich,
Birgit

What a fabulous giveaway and it is just what I need to travel with. I am so sorry you are so bogged down. I teach too and hate everytime grades are due. I trust once you enter them you won't have to deal with them again until sometime in the new year. You are awesome to do this giveaway even thought you are so overloaded. Thanks!
